Rotary International President Dong Kurn Lee and his wife, Young, were special guests at the regular Wednesday meeting of the Rotary Club of Poway, California.  President Kendra Jeffcoat, President-elect Nasrin Barbee and Executive Director James Dunny of RB Sunrise were there to meet him and hear him speak.

DK Lee's message was the ways that everyone in Rotary around the world can do their part to Make Dreams Real for the the children of the world.  He began his talk with a story of a child in India who grew up in poverty  and at the age of twelve was diagnosed with a heart problem that without treatment would not allow this little girl to continue to live.  Through a series of referrals and the help of a Rotary Club, the girl was able to go to New Delhi and have the necessary surgery that has saved her life.  DK Lee emphasized that it was no one person who saved this little girl's life, but the combined efforts of all of the people who worked together to Make Dreams Real for this little girl.

Rotary International programs to provide clean water and sanitation program to keep the water supplies safe and free from disease are ways that Rotary is making  a difference and preventing needless deaths. The children who can be free from disease can then have a chance to go to school.

Rotary International is also promoting the educational opportunities that will help to break the cycle of poverty.

DK Lee said that it is essential for Rotarians to renew their efforts to recruit new members so the the work of Rotary can continue.
