Powerwasher Lloyd TrillingGreg Lund Weeding

On Saturday, Jun 24, 2017,  nine members of RB Sunrise Rotary gathered at 9:00 am to do some projects to spruce up the Ed Brown Senior Center at the RB Community Park on West Bernardo Drive.  Several members spent time using one of the three power washers to wash the outside of the building. One of the tasks for the power washer was the removal of bees nests on the ceiling of the stage entrance.  These mud balls needed to be removed because the bees had been swarming and attacking people using the tennis courts.  The power washers were also used to clean the sidewalks and the patio area on the southeast side of the building.  Jean MacLaren cleaned the windows after the adjacent walls were power washed.

The most impactful project was the refurbishment of the men's restroom on the south side of the building.  Jim Roth used a power washer to clean the floor.  After sweeping out the water, fans donated by Rick Coburn were used to dry the floor.  In the interim, Jim replaced loose baseboard tiles, attaching them with grout.  Jim then mixed an expoxy material and then applied it to the floor.  The result was dramatic.  The tan epoxy material brightened the restroom considerably.

Several other members spent some time weeding in the planted area at the rear of the building.  There are other projects at the Ed Brown Center, but they will need some advanced planning.  The  main project is the replacement of a rotted door to a storage area adjacent to the southeast patio.
