At our September 15 regular meeting,  Dee Doe, from the La Jolla Sunrise Rotary Club presented a program about Micro Credit programs and the impact that they make in the communities in third world countries.  Dee is a board member of the Foundation for Women, an organization that improves the lives of women through micro credit loans.  The Foundation for Women is a partner with Rotary for micro credit.  Dee said that the foundation had to  raise money to meet a deadline of September 30 for a matching grant opportunity.

After her presentation, a number of our members asked whether RB Sunrise Rotary was contributing to this project and also whether we could increase our donation.  In response to this display of interest, President-Elect Mike Miller made a motion to the rest of your board of directors via email that we increase our donation to the micro-credit program from $250 to $1000 by using money from our reserve funds.  This motion was quickly seconded and passed.

After the meeting last Tuesday, another of our members, Phil Schneider, indicated that he would match the club's total donation of $1000.  Thanks to Phil's generous donation, our club will now be sending $2000 to this worthy program.
