The Rancho Bernardo Sunrise Rotary Club has announced their 2011 "Make Dreams Real" campaign, providing six levels for area businesses and individuals to help those that programs and services our club supports in the community.

“Working within our organization’s philosophy of Service Above Self, this year’s fundraising campaign is geared to helping local military families in need, as well as improving literacy within our community,” says campaign chair Laura Gillig.

“R.B. Sunrise Rotary club is proud to support over 36 different programs providing service and assistance to our youth, our senior citizens and the families of deployed U.S. military personnel,” observes Gillig. RB Sunrise Rotary is universally recognized as Rancho Bernardo’s leading service organization and home to our community’s top business and civic leaders.

In addition to sponsoring students from both Abraxas and Scripps Ranch High Schools, RB Sunrise also donates dictionaries to local third graders, contributes generously to programs like Toys for Tots, and does significant amounts of deferred maintenance at Escondido’s Buckheart Ranch (a home for wayward boys).

“Rotarians are known for their willingness to give, both individually and as a group,” says club president Rick Coburn. He adds “Rotary was the one of the first groups to offer assistance when the Witch Creek fire hit us four years ago. We’re on-site for hurricanes, earthquakes, and tsunamis, as well as helping support service dogs, build houses for the homeless, and look for day-to-day ways to strengthen our community.”

“While every Rotarian is willing to dig deep into our pockets, we can’t do it all by ourselves,” says Gillig. “This is why we ask the community once each year to consider the thousands of people our club has helped – both locally and around the world – and help us help them…and you.

To this end, the RB Sunrise Rotary is purchasing full page advertisements in both the Rancho Bernardo News and the Poway Chieftain, and these ads will be scheduled to run in special holiday issues in November.

Members of the community are asked to help sponsor the club and its many good deeds, with any level of sponsorship welcomed and guaranteed to be put to good use.

“Sponsorships as low as $100 will be publicly recognized in these full-page ads, either as individuals or as businesses. We want to make sure everyone knows who is being generous and has made a tangible commitment to ‘giving back’,” says Gillig.
