RB Sunrise 2nd Generation Membership

New Generation Member Awardee with "sponsor" Sonali Soni

Rancho Bernardo Sunrise Rotary club has awarded their second New Generation membership award to Shaan Duggal. Born on October 15, 2009, Shaan (pronounced Shon) is the son of Rotarian Sonali Soni and her husband Nakul Duggal.

The first such award was given to Reese Amy Christina Dugdale, born on August 31, 2006.

"October is new member month at our club, and I was determined to do my part!" Sonali laughs. Membership chairJana Markley comments "We've been pushing to add to the ranks since our year started on July 1, and I wanted everyone bringing in prospective Rotarians. Sonali brought Shaan to many more than the required three meetings, and everyone in the room had a chance to talk to him."

"The conversations WERE a trifle one-sided" Markley admits.

After a pregnant pause, club president Nasrin Barbee observes "Potential Rotarians attend three meetings, meet our membership, and are sponsored by existing members who can vouch for their being upstanding members of the community. Shaan meets all the criteria, and we expect him to be an active participant in our programs. We're delighted to welcome him as the newest member of RB Sunrise's next generation."

Shaan is also being scheduled for late spring, 2010 as a club speaker, at which time he will lead the club in rolling, stretching and standing exercises.
