L to R: RB Sunrise Rotary Club President, Nasrin Barbee,  Emily Weinberg and her proud father, Rotarian Rob Weinberg
The Rancho Bernardo Sunrise Rotary club welcomed 8th grader Emily Weinberg as an honorary member at a recent breakfast meeting.

"This young lady is committed to helping the community around her" observed club president Nasrin Barbee as she bestowed upon Ms. Weinberg her Honorary Member pin and certificate. "She's ventured with us to Tijuana on multiple occasions to help build a house in a single day. She assists seniors in need here in RB. And she's spent the past four years dedicating herself to Rotary's concept of Service Above Self, as well as sincere, enthusiastic attendance at our breakfast meetings."

"Emily is a regular face at the club's breakfast meetings" noted club president-elect Al Watson. "She joins her father here at every school break, as well as during the summer. We're very pleased to recognize her contributions to Rotary and her visions of how to help those around her and in the world at-large. She's the kind of person who sets a fine example for others to follow."

Now in its 105th year, Rotary has grown steadily over the years and currently has well over 1.2 million members in almost 34,000 clubs worldwide. There are also 7,000 Rotoract (college) clubs engaging 170,000 young leaders in over 150 countries and 9,000 Interact (high school) clubs with over 200,000 members in 110 countries around the globe.

The RB Sunrise Rotary Club sponsors the Interact club at Scripps Ranch High School.

"Today's youth represent tomorrow's leaders" said RB Sunrise past-president Carl Kruse. "With people like Emily lining up to take the reins and shaping our values, I have a great deal of faith in the future."

The 65 business and community leaders in the RB Sunrise Rotary meet for breakfast every Tuesday at 7am at the RB Country Club on Greens East Road in RB. Professionals from throughout the region are invited to attend for some of the finest camaraderie to be found in north county.
