The Rancho Bernardo Sunrise Rotary club has been publicly recognized for being one of the most generous clubs in District 5340.

"I'm pleased to award your club this banner for being one of only two clubs in the district to contribute at least $100 per member to the Rotary Foundation." said Pam Russell, immediate past governor of Rotary International District 5340, at this week's presentation.

"We all need goals, and at our club we strive to contribute $125 per person every year." said RB Sunrise Rotary immediate past-president Kendra Jeffcoat. "When you consider we have 65 members, that's a lot of good that the Foundation can do around the world.

The Rotary Foundation was developed to enable Rotarians to advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through the improvement of health, the support of education, and the alleviation of poverty. It's a not-for-profit corporation supported solely by voluntary contributions from Rotarians and friends of the Foundation who share its vision of a better world.

"Our contributions make a huge difhttp://www.rbsunrise.org/ference to those with so much less than us" observed club president Nasrin Barbee. "The $100 I gave is providing for an elementary school in Zambia. Contributions from five of our members help provide a small watch-repair business for six disabled workers in the Philippines. 50 of our members combined to help provide enough vaccine to immunize 10,000 children against polio."

"You've done all that…and more…in just the past year!" Ms. Russell added. "Despite the economic challenges facing us all, this club has taken tremendous strides towards wiping out polio in our lifetime."

Rotary District 5340 is comprised of 3,435 members in 60 clubs throughout San Diego and Imperial Counties.hits counter
