The assignment for the Who Am I includes providing the positive thought at the beginning of the meeting and introducing guests and visiting Rotarians during the meeting.
The member assigned to Rotary Minute/ Cheer for Rotary is the assigned Greeter for that day and also is tasked with selling opportunity drawing tickets.
On August 5, 2015, Paul Gorman, our district grant guru, announced that District 5340 approved our club's request for matching funds for the $3000 our club has already committed to spend on a house build in Tijuana in November. The District 5340 Rotary Foundation committee approved our grant request (P-844) at their recent August meeting. The Project title is "Project Mercy House Build"
Congratulations and our club's thank you to Paul for his diligence in moving this project to this successful funding action by Rotary District 5340.
Arts in Education at the Poway Center for the Arts
Michael Rennie, the executive director of the newly renamed Poway On Stage, spoke to us about the commitment of Poway OnStage to providing education in the arts via the artists and organizations that are brought to perform at the center. Here is the description of their program from the Poway OnStage website.

Poway OnStage is proud to provide performing arts programs to our schools. Since 1999 Poway OnStage, in collaboration with the Poway Unified School District, has offered its Arts in Education Initiative to 3,000+ children in grades K-12 each year.
This four-part program is designed to broaden the children’s knowledge of the performing arts, thereby enhancing their academic, social, and intellectual growth. By working closely with the Poway Unified School district, the Foundation provides valuable learning opportunities, including in-school workshops, classes with visiting artists, a one-week, all-expenses-paid theater camp, and more. These activities provide children with a platform to develop artistic and creative abilities, critical thinking, teamwork, and social skills while introducing them to the world of theater, dance, and music.
