There is an important article on the District 5340 webpage. Apparently, the Rotary Club of National City was mentioned in an article in the Union Tribune newspaper as being directly involved and an accusation against a member the city council of National City.
The article restates the position adopted decades ago by Rotary International that while Rotary Clubs may have at their meetings speakers advocating political positions, these speakers are there solely to assist members in making an informed decision on any issues discussed. Rotary Club's may not however directly advocate or support any political position or use club resources for such activities. For more information about this go to the following links.
We are continuing to receive grant requests from organizations in San Diego that we have supported in the past. RB Sunrise has played an important role in helping many charities in our area over our 30 year history. Our club not only supports organizations here in our back yard, we also have members whose passion for service above self compels them to be directly involved in making a difference in faraway places such as Uganda and South Africa.
As the 30th anniversary of our club's chartering, we can see within our own club why Rotary and Rotarians are such a force for changing lives around the world.
District Council
The next District 5340 Council meeting will be in our own backyard. This meeting will be on Tuesday evening, Aug 21, at Hotel Karian on Penasquitos Drive at 5:30 pm. This is a great opportunity to showcase our North County clubs, our club should have a large number of members at this meeting. Red badge members are especially encouraged to attend this meeting in order to meet Rotarians from around our district and get points for earning blue badge status. What makes Rotary special is the fact that no matter what club you call home, Rotarians have a heart for service to their community and the world. Click the link below to register for this event. RB Sunrise will pay half of your registration.
