Program for Tuesday, Dec 18, 2017
The meeting on Tuesday, Dec 18, 2017 will be a festive time of celebration.
Please join us with your participation at Tuesday’s meeting in our first annual crazy holiday sock contest. It’s just a simple silly sock competition to see who has the best holiday socks. One for the men and one for the women. Sure, you can wear Aunt Mimi’s sweater she knitted for you, but that won’t count. The winners will receive gift certificates. Let’s have fun with this. It’s guaranteed not to sock.
To begin the festive atmosphere, Harold Dokmo will play Christmas music before 7:15 on the piano.
After announcements and a check presentation to the Ed Brown Center, our program will be music provided by
singers from the Rancho Bernardo High School Chorale.

RB Sunrise Rotary Received a $500 Donation
At noon on Wednesday, Dec 13, RB Sunrise President Paul Gorman was handed a check for $500 by Ron Bamberger of Boardwalk Development. Boardwalk Development is the property manager for the RB Town Center Bernardo and is also a part owner of the center. The owners wanted to thank the community for their patience during the time that the parking and access to the businesses in the center was affected by the remodel of the center which is now complete.
Each of the 21 businesses in center nominated a local charitable organization to receive a $500 donation. Dr. Suzanne Lee, the owner of the optometry office in the center designated RB Sunrise Rotary as her choice. For a photo and additional information go to: RB Sunrise Rotary
At tomorrow's meeting, President Elect Mike Moffat will announce our plans for hosting DGE's at a dinner during the Rotary International Assembly. Each year, every DGE from around the world gather in San Diego for mandatory training for their year as the DG for their district.
This year's International Assembly at the Manchester Grand Hyatt is from Jan 14 - 20. During that week we will again this year host a group of DGE's and learn about their districts. This is a fun event and a great opportunity to learn about what Rotarians in other districts are doing and meet their leaders. If you miss tomorrow's meeting, look for a message in your email inbox so that you can plan to attend this event,
Important Update on District 5340 Youth Protection Policy
Last week, Dale Long sent out an update to the information he presented at last week's meeting. Youth Protection Certifications must be in process before the end of December 2017. Here is what Dale sent in his email to everyone:
Per District Governor Carr the new test must be completed by 12-31-2017 to be certified. That is different from what I had read and shared with you.
