Last Wednesday, our club had a special evening meeting instead of our regular Tuesday morning meeting. This meeting was the RB Sunrise Rotary contribution to the Rotary International Assembly hosting events that our District 5340 sponsored for District Governor Elects who were in San Diego for training. Congratulations to President Elect Bret Geernaert for putting together a great event on relatively short notice. Our meeting venue, the Country Club of RB, provided an opportunity for more of our members to experience the global reach of Rotary and the fact that clubs and districts around the world differ in size, Rotarians are united by their commitment to Service Above Self. Large or small, every district and club faces the same challenges in telling the Rotary story in a way that will attract the next generation of members and retain current members. For more details about our evening hosting event, see the story on our club website. Jeanne MacLaren Honored at RB Sunrise Evening Meeting. At the Jan 16, 2019 evening meeting for hosting visiting DGE's, RB Sunrise Rotary's Foundation Chair Jeanne MacLaren was recognized for achieving another level for being a major donor to the Rotary Foundation. During the presentation remarks, 2013-14 PDG Carl Kruse noted that it is the dedication of donors like Jeanne that make it possible for the ongoing work that Rotary does to change lives and make a difference in the world. In our club we know of Jeanne's passion for supporting the Rotary Foundation and it was especially appropriate for our club to recognize her efforts at this special evening event.
