The speaker for Tuesday, May 10 is RB Sunrise Rotary honorary member, Peter Meisne. Peter will bring us up to date with GENI. Since our club sponsored him as an honorary Rotarian many years ago, Peter has seen his ideas gain wider acceptance in the global effort to provide electricity to areas that haven't had electricity in the past. We take electricity for granted, but lack of electricity is a major factor in poverty and maintaing health.

The member assigned to Who Am I is also responsible for providing the positive thought at the beginning of the meeting and introducing visiting Rotarians and guests.
The member assigned to Rotary Minute is the assigned Greeter for that day and also is tasked with selling opportunity drawing tickets.

On April 30, Kim Muslusky was one of the RB Sunrise Rotary members who helped to organize a toy storage room at Ronald McDonald House. During that reorganization Kim came upon a Viking Horn Hat. Kim recognized the fun value of the hat and the volunteer coordinator then gave it to her.
RB Sunrise Rotary is well known as a fun club and at our meeting on May 3, Kim carried out the club tradition of raising money with fun auctions by challenging members to raise at least $100. The auction goal was to have the "Hat Man" Rob Weinberg, our resident marketing guru not only wear the hat, but also pose for a picture. Members quickly donated $152. The funds raised will be donated to the Jewish Family Center's On The Go program which includes Rides and Smiles. The photo above is proof that Rob, whose white hat is his personal "brand trademark" for his marketing business. He now has an additional "hat" to wear! This little bit of hilarity is typical of the fun meetings that are the hallmalrk of RB Sunrise Rotary meetings
Rides and Smiles was one of RB Sunrise Rotary's Centenial Projects in 2005 to celebrate Rotary's 100th anniversary. A grant from RB Sunrise and volunteer drivers helped to launch this successful program that provides transportaton to seniors who no longer can drive in Rancho Bernardo.
Rob is also wearing a "Rubber Ducky" tie to publicize the RB Business Association's Bob Well's Rubber Duck Race - an activity at the Spirit of The Fourth each year on July 4 at Webb Park. RB Sunrise also donates to The Spirit of the Fourth and members participate in the Rubber Ducky Race.

The Poway Center For The Performing Arts (PCPA) Arts & Education Initiative exists to broaden the knowledge of the performing arts for children in grades K-12 in the Poway Unified School District by enhancing their academic, social, and intellectual growth. This is accomplished by providing school workshops, classes with visiting artists, and theater camp, all of which provide a platform to develop artistic and creative abilities, critical thinking, teamwork, and social skills while introducing them to the world of theatre, dance and music.

The Ed Brown Senior Center for Active Adults (“The Ed Brown Senior Center”) is a Community Resource Center that offers events, and provides programs, classes, and services to mature adults interested in maximizing and enjoying the best years of their lives. Specialized classes that are offered may also benefit younger members of the community who have physical limitations brought on by accident or disease. The Ed Brown Senior Center promotes community engagement by providing leadership, encouraging philanthropy and fostering collaboration among area agencies and the general public.
On Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at the weekly breakfast meeting, RB Sunrise welcomed three new members, Carolyn Woempner, Tom Hoy, and Susan Marsh to the Rotarian family.

Carolyn Woempner currently is the Executive Director of the Childcare Resource Service, a department of the YMCA of San Diego County, providing free and low cost services to the community with a focus on child care. Carolyn volunteers at the Poway Valley Therapeutic Riding Center, The Great Books Foundation, Safe Harbor Lab Rescue, and the Horse Protection League, and is a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Along with three other authors, Carolyn co-wrote “The Future of Schooling”, regarding educating America in 2020, which was published in 2010.
Tom Hoy recently retired but worked for 35 years in the defense contracting industry, specializing in Material Management and Finance. In retirement, Tom supports the San Diego Humane Society and the Lions, Tigers and Bears animal sanctuary located in Alpine, California. His hobbies include building desktop computers, dabbling in electronics and technology.
Susan Marsh recently retired as a tax accountant after working for the same Big 4 accounting firm for 33 years in the Los Angeles as well as San Diego offices. She currently owns her own business, working to help clients with tax accounting and bookkeeping services. Along with her partner, Tom Hoy, she also supports the San Diego Humane Society and the Lions, Tigers and Bears animal sanctuary. Susan’s hobbies include genealogy research, scrapbooking, and getting together with family and friends.
