The member assigned to Who Am I is also responsible for providing the positive thought at the beginning of the meeting and introducing visiting Rotarians and guests.
The member assigned to Rotary Minute is the assigned Greeter for that day and also is tasked with selling opportunity drawing tickets.
Kim Varey, Ph. D. joined RB Sunrise Rotary at the end of March 2016. At the July 12, 2016 our club meeting on July 12, President Craig Brown and former District Governor Carl Kruse presented Kim with her Member Plaque and Blue Badge. This signalled that Kim had earned the points needed for this award.
When a Rotary club inducts a new member, that person is given a temporary badge - a "red badge". Each club determines what tasks the new members needs to do to earn a permanent "blue" club badge. The tasks involve earning points for giving a Who am I, attending a club social, a district event or a board meeting or participating in a club project.
Kim was very happy, excited, and relieved to finally earn her Blue Badge! Congratulations Kim!
One of the publications that Rotary International provides to members is the Rotary Leader Newsletter. Since, as Rotarians, we are all leaders, I am providing you with a way to access this interesting newsletter. You can view the July 2016 newsletter by clicking on the embedded link.
The contents of this newsletter include:
1. A message from John Germ, RI President for 2016 - 2017
2. An article for clubs on How to Earn a 2016 - 2017 Presidential Citation.
3. An article on How to Get Inspired to celebrate The Rotary Foundation's Centennial
4. An article that answers questions about the recent Council on Legislation Enactments
On August 16 2016, our district will hold the first District Council of the the year. The location is the Paradise Point Resort on Mission Bay. The event starts will a social time and check in at 5:30 pm. Dinner will be at 6:00 pm and the program will follow at 7:00 pm. The speaker hasn't been published, but I have heard that Shelly Zimmerman, Police Chief for San Diego, will be speaking.
Come and get to meet and become friends with Rotarians from around the district. This is also a way for those with a red badge to earn points for their blue badge.
Last week, Gordy sent the Sponsorship Form and event Fact Sheet to you. Click the links below to get the Sponsorship Tools.
One tool is a "cover letter" that you can customize by adding your contacts name and address (open and look at it!! You will see what I mean) for all your friends, family members, neighbors & business owners in the area that you are emailing or mailing the sponsorship requests to.
Other tools are two versions of the "Sponsorship Form" and event "Fact Sheet" for you - one is both documents combined into (1) 3-page document, and then in case you want to print some - the same documents are attached a two separate documents. (Just in case you lost that last email)
Our goal is to raise $75,000+ this year. That is 50% more than last year. We have more Rotarians this year than last year, and the event has growing momentum... With the event being moved to Webb Park we will be establishing a phenomenal annual event for our community. It should be easier than ever for you to bring in those Sponsors!!
Remember, the best way to get more sponsors is to ASK. In person and by phone, you never know which one of the people you interact with each day is just waiting for the opportunity to participate.
Thanks in advance - this years BEERnardo will be the best yet!!
Let us know if you can think of something that will help us all promote this event and find this years Sponsors.
