The member assigned to Who Am I is also responsible for providing the positive thought for the day at the beginning of the meeting.

During the meeting the Who Am I assignment member has the task of introducing visiting Rotarians and guests.

The member assigned the Rotary Minute is also a Greeter for the day and is assigned to sell opportunity drawing tickets.

DG Mel Gallegos Awards Paul Harris Recognitions

During his official club visit on July 17, District 5340 2018-19 District Governor Mel Gallegos awarded Bret Geernaert his initial Paul Harris Fellowship award and PHF pin. This award is in recognition of a member's initial contribution of $1000 to the Annual Fund of the Rotary Foundation.

Lee Haney received his PHF+2 recognition pin from DG Mel for donating over $3000 to the Rotary Foundation.

In the photos above, DG Mel and the awardees are joined by RB Sunrise Rotary 2018 -19 President Mike Moffat and Club Foundation Chair Jeanne MacLaren.

The continuing support of the Rotary Foundation is the means by which Rotary is able to fund all of the projects around the world that make Rotary a significant agent for change and makes Rotarians "Be The Inspiration"

Membership Updates

At the RB SunRise Rotary Club July Board meeting on Thursday, July we reviewed 2 applications for membership that will be published at future club meetings.

Paul Pintek and Dan Krall have resigned from RB Sunrise Rotary. Both were on an extended LOA. Both of them decided to resign becauses the ongoing nature of their work situation interferes with attendance and participation in our club.

Kim Muslusky and Sue Herndon have been granted Rule of 85 Active member status. Rule of 85 status allows the member to be an Active member, but only be counted and charged for attendance at meetings when they actually attend a meeting. Both Kim and Sue will continue to be active. Sue is currently having so health issues that will limit her ability to be mobile. Kim will continue to be an active member, but will be able to not be required to be at meetings. Kim, of course, will continue to be active with Thousand Smiles.

RB Sunrise Events

August 4, 2018 - Team RWB & RBHS: Ruck For
Veterans

6 Mile ruck along SR 56 Bike path with veterans and members of 5 high school football teams. Starts at Carmel Creek Rd and Tang Drive (Kaiser Hospital parking lot) and ends at Westview High School parking lot.

Ruck supports Veterans Village of San Diego. Participants will carry backpacks filled with hygiene kit items from which VVSD will make kits to be distributed to veterans in need at annual Stand Down in Balboa Park. T-shirts, food and drink for participants!
