The YMCA Teens in Motion (TIM) program exists to fulfill the needs of working parents whose teens have aged out of a typical child care setting. Staying home independently is not an option. Working parents who have teenagers and young adults with disabilities are limited in the type of care offered in our community. RB Sunrise Rotary Club at its March 1, 2016 provided a $2000 grant to YMCA's Teens in Motion program in Rancho Bernardo. Community Service Dir. Nasrin Barbee, RB Sunrise Pres. Alison Farrin, and Erika Ramirez Lee, YMCA Program Director Marketing and Family Engagement are shown in the photo above with the facsimile check.

The TIM program has been providing quality afterschool programing for teens and young adults with disabilities for more than ten years. TIM operates out of Rancho Bernardo High School, Clairemont High and Monte Vista High. Our partnership with local high schools helps to build stronger relationships between our teens with disabilities and typically developing teens. This promotes inclusion on multiple levels; our Teens in Motion students have opportunities to participate in sports, enjoy teen dances, attend field trips and make friends during after school activities.

The Rancho Bernardo Sunrise Rotary makes all of this possible through generous donations. Did you know that $100 provides the Rancho Bernardo teens with a month’s supply of seasonal fruits and vegetables to help learn cooking skills at Teens in Motion? The lasting impact is the independent living skills that our teens take with them. Your donation of $500 provides public transportation passes for an entire classroom of 18 Teens in Motion students for one month. Your donation of $1,250 will help transport the Rancho Bernardo TIM students to three field trips over the summer on school buses to places such as Camp Marston in Julian, the Museum of Making Music in Carlsbad and Petco Park in downtown San Diego.

The Rancho Bernardo Teens in Motion program is grateful for the support of the Rancho Bernardo Sunrise Rotary; 100% of your donation goes directly back into the TIM program to purchase adaptive aids, yoga mats, cooking equipment, and help pay for the summer field trips that create memories to last a lifetime.
